The present

Hi everyone!!
I have just watched a story that has touched the bottom of my heart.
That is the video below and it has won more than 50 prizes in 180 film festivals and it has seen by almost 900,000 people. One of this people, me! ;D
The video tells the story of a boy who is playing video games. Then, he receives a lovely puppy,  but he does not seem to be interested in the animal. Then everything changes. If you want to know the reason, watch the video.  I highly recommend it!

Never stop learning

http://www.pilgrims.co.uk/page/?title=Teacher+Training&pid=4

I'm living days of changes and taking important decisions. That's the reason because I decided to write and to upload the image above. That means a lot in my professional level. To empathise, to understand , to have the confidence to say "No" or to say "Yes" when I feel a challenge in my job.
Nowadays, I'm ready to say that next month is going to be an important one for me. I'm a passionate person and that is why I do what I do.
Have a nice weekend!

Playing and learning

Hi you all!
Here you have an amazing learning activity. You need a bee-bot. You can tell it to move forward and back. Also turn right and left by pressing the arrow keys.

Can you imagine the possibilities that we have to learn new vocabulary?
With this small bee-bot you can work whatever you want.

Common mistakes

As an English teacher, many times I think about the common mistakes that children make when they learn English . I know that they are learning the language and I tolerate some mistakes but there are some of them in the spelling and building words that they are repetitive.
If you are an English teacher, take an opportunity to talk to your children about them and tell them to make a funny notebook with them so that they can read as a personal book.

By the way, here is a fun song about this issue.
It's for little older kids who are able to spell longer, more difficult words.

Have a fun "time"

This is a fun activity to reinforce time in our English lessons.
The problem is that sometimes, children have problems with it in the mother tongue.
Because of this, I usually introduce the hours in English with these activities:
First of all, I use the picture below and after that, in pairs, I give the photocopy below to each child and two dices by pairs.

Have the students first roll the red dice. Using the template above, have them write the hour under "red roll". This will be written before the colon. Next, students will roll the blue dice and write the minutes after the colon in the "blue roll" column.
Students will then write the time with the hour and the minutes combined.
Then they will try to draw the hour hands on the clock.

Roll and spell game

Hi you all!
Spelling activities doesn't have to be boring.
I have always been a believer that children learn best from play and exploring.
Because of that, I want to share a fun activity to learn naturally , while children are playing.

Alex and Lulu

Hi you all!
Tomorrow morning at 11:30 a.m you can meet Alex and Lulu. They are good friends but they like different things. Alex loves having noisy, exciting adventures and Lulu likes painting and making things. Even though they are different, they always have fun together until Alex begins to worry that they might be too different. If you want to know how this story finishes you will have to go to the Ludoteca where this story time will be told.

Days named after planets

Have you ever wondered about where the week names come from?
Days of the week have their origins back to ancient Rome where the common practice was to name the days of the week after planets.
Here you have two examples:
Sunday is the first day of an English week. That day was named after the big star in the sky (The Sun)
Monday is the first day of the work week. Like Sunday, it was named after an object the Romans saw in the night sky (the Moon)

Childhood libraries

Libraries are some of the most incredible tributes to human knowledge and they are worthy when it comes to studying. However, when we talk about them we use to project adults' libraries in our minds but what about the ones you can see taping on this link or on the picture below? What is your favourite one?

For adults

Hi everyone!
I have just found out this video and I want to share it here because that is the way I feel about my job and I think that it inspires new ideas towards improving our daily life as teachers.
It was uploaded last March and it was created by Reynolds brothers as a tribute to the teachers' vital role in the learning spirit in every child.
Worth to see it!

If you visit it, you will see similarities between the two adventures and how one influenced on the other. Both stories, one real and the other from imagination, are also stories that shows frienship and a strong believe in achieving a dream.
Furthermore friendship, improvement, effort, loyalty, solidarity...are values that the exhibition highlights.

Kings' Day

We celebrate this important day on January 6th.
As you know, the day before in the evening, there is an important parade where the three kings go in a procession giving sweets to children along the city.

Traditionally, in the days preceding The Three Wise Men Day, children write letters to the Kings requesting a toy or gift that they would like. On the night before children leave some food and drinks at home for Melchior, Gaspar and Balthazar. Also they leave out their shoes so that the kings know how many people live in that house. When children wake up on the 6th in the morning, their gifts will appear near shoes or boots.
This date is important for everyone because everybody uses to have a present or gift.
After that, families meet together in a lunch in which the most important tradition is eating a “King’s Ring Cake”, a sweet bread shaped like a wreath, with candied fruit on top and a cardboard crown in the middle. When you eat that delicatessen, you can find two different surprises. If you find a king, you will be crowned!
but it you find a bean, the tradition says that this person will pay the cake.
Children also wear a crown at the table in honor of the kings.

By the way, this is the cake I cooked at home.

Three Wise Men Day

Ready for the procession today? I am!
I want to see their spectacular parade!
For your information, they are going to start at 6 pm from the north of our town.
But, do you learn more information about it?
The tradition says that once the Three Kings had presented their gifts to Baby Jesus, they gave out gifts to children on their return journey.
The Christmas Carol below was written by John Henry Hopkins and it shows you the story that happened from Christmas Day to Three Wise Men Day
Here you have the lyrics.
