Story Time

Hi you all!
Let's pay attention to this story and think about what is the most important idea in it!
Also, you can decide what is your favourite character? Why?
Do you feel the same in a competition? We're going to talk next week.

That story was the result of a hard day working with some European Teachers in Latvia. If you want to see the making-of this movie, look at these pics.

Happy St. George Day!

We've celebrated "Jocs Florals 2013" in our school today.
Children wrote fantastic compositions for the writing competition. Each winner had a rose and a book as a present. So, congratulations to all of them and also to all the students in the school because everybody wrote amazing stories and nice poems.

But, what do you know about St. George?
Here you have this movie about the story of St. George.
It's cute because the speaker is Samuel, a 4-year-old boy!
Have fun and try to understand it!

For ending, I want to copy the acrostic poem that 3rd graders have thought for celebrating the Earth Day (April 22nd)
Explore our planet
And you will see that

Reuse, reduce and recycle
The three Rs
Help the Earth to be healthy

Take action!

We have celebrated the Earth Day Today!
We have done different activities in the English lessons in order to know what does it mean. We have discovered that is not just a celebration, it's a call for action!
For that reason, we have checked what we can do in our daily life and we have concluded some ideas.
Here you have some pics of different activities: actions for protecting our environment and some ideas to reuse things.

CM2 graders have also established some categories in the school and some in the classroom to analyze our immediate environment.Children concluded that there are lots of things we can do in the school and also at home.

Here you have some of the main ideas they said:
* To take public transport more than your own car.
* To turn the faucet off while brushing our teeth.
* To reuse clothes.
* To turn the lights off when the lessons are finished and we have to go home.
* To reuse paper.
* To bring your own bags when you go shopping.
* To recycle at home but also at school, too: we have yellow and blue bins in each classroom.

So, we have concluded that it's in our hands and we have to make everyday the Earth Day!

By the way, here you have a video where you watch a family wasting energy. Do they need all those lights on? Do they need to use all that hot water and electricity? Pay attention and let's conserve energy, making the world a better place at the same time!

Oral activity for 2nd graders

2nd graders have learnt this nice poem!

Please and thank you
are magic words
we need to say
very often, every day.

Please and thank you
are useful words
to help you be polite
and make people feel alright.

Please and thank you
are the best words
to say people
with a big bright smile!

Let your children know how happy it makes you when they are being kind and responsible. Praise your children when they use the words 'please' and 'thank you'!
To consider: if you click on the picture above you will listen to 2nd graders!

Food topic for 3rd graders

3rd graders are studying food. After reviewing and learning the names of food items, they had to classify the food pictures into different groups. They did a great job!
As you can see, we made a food pyramid. That is a shaped guide of healthy foods divided into sections to show the recommended items for each food group. Also we have learnt what our body needs.
By the way, if you click on the picture above, you will find a game. Drag each food into the correct group it fits the best.

Have a nice weekend!

It's Friday and it's the end of a hard week! CS students have been working on grammar; 4th graders have been preparing 'Three Billy Goats' for very young kids; 3rd graders have been introduced into the frogs' world. Besides that, CI students worked hard on phonetics and pronuntiation, through chants and poems and Kindergarten-3 were introduced into feelings!
So, it means that we need the weekend!
Relax and have a great time...but don't forget to do your homework for next week!
See you on Monday!

The food train

Today it's 1st graders' turn!
They are learning a chant to practice food vocabulary.

When we split the group, I put masking tape down on the floor to look like train tracks. Children and me line up and put our hands on the shoulder of the person in front of us. Then, we walk around like a train meanwhile we say the chant.

Happy Fool's Day

Today is April 1st, the day most commonly called "April Fool's Day" and it's celebrated in many countries by people in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, France, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Russia, Australia, South Africa, The Netherlands and other countries around the world.
 It's a day
to practice jokes,  get creative and play fun pranks on people around you.
Nobody is exactly sure where the tradition started but nowadays it's an excuse to play silly jokes on friends.
Many newspaper, radio personalities, television shows, and internet web sites participate in the celebration.

Nevertheless, besides that I want to remember an important date around the world because Today is also Easter Monday!
In Catalonia, we have a tradition through which godfather gives an Easter cake to his godchildren, as the pictures below.
